I'm Following In The Red Footsteps

Against my sometimes better judgement, at two in the morning last night, I decided that I wanted to actually dye my hair. Red.
So here are my original color and the current color:

Before

After
I know I didn't do the best job at dying, but for a first shot, it sn't horrible. I still have a crap ton of brown in it, but the red looks good nect to the red which is mosyly just streaked throughout. I think next time since I have so much hair it will actually take two packs, so for future reference, that is my one biggest mistake. Make sure your hair is basically dripping with color.
So until te end of Huly when I get senior portraits taken, I will be a red head. I think I'm going to dye it back to brown before portraits.
I used the Garnier Nutrusse dye in True Red 66. It was super easy instructions and since I had helped a friend dye her hair with the same kind of color,I pretty much knew what to do. I do like how it worked out, I think it was mostly user error of not using enough dye to cover all ofm hair. So I think that next ime I will just ffix that and go on with my normal process.
But overall, I love the red. I kind of look like a combination of rose, Lucy, and Jessica Rabit. I love red.

Hair Modeling for Bombshell Salon Training

I've always been what they call a "kitchen beautician" because I do my hair color at home. I'm just too broke to even think about getting salon color (as much as I'd love to have salon color every day of my life.)

Every now and then I luck out and my wonderful hair dresser at Salon 730 in Fredericksburg, VA invites me to a hair show and I get my hair colored fo' free then get told I'm beautiful for about 6 hours of my life.

Last month, I got lucky enough to stumble upon a brand new post on Bombshell Salon's Facebook page asking for hair models for their Bombshell beauty school. I sent in a pic and they invited me. I got my hair done by three awesome stylists at their new Southside location and am absolutely in LOVE with the colors they used. They were learning a brand new hair color system by Scruples and I got to be their guinea pig! Awesome.

Below are some pictures of me leaving the salon. The sun had actually started to set so I had a hard time getting shots of this hair but those flat iron curls were amazing.

Here's a little peek-a-boo of what's underneath.

I think it turned out awesome.

They used a dark red on my hair and lightened panels underneath, hitting the lightened pieces with Urban Shock. Oh yes, everyone, that is some pink hair under there and it is GORGEOUS. The Urban Shock, I was told, is supposed to last 2 weeks or so but it's really held up. It's probably been about 4 weeks and fade-out hasn't been too bad. I'm waiting until I get a chance to go home to do touch-ups since I'll need a hand foiling the pink on and getting my roots in the back.

But seriously, if you're ever in the Richmond, Virginia area and need your hairs did (or nails, or waxing, or whatever), check out Bombshell. They have three locations so no matter where you are in the area, they're relatively convenient.

Red Hair; Don't Care

A while back, I got to participate in a Schwarzkopf hair show as a model and got my hair dyed like Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I fell in love. I'd always been in hot pursuit of bright red hair and I finally had it-- for FREE. However, I can't afford a $200 hair coloring session that takes 3.5 hours to do every 6 weeks.

Yep; not happening.

So, I waited until I couldn't stand my roots and the hair color fade. (Plus my boyfriend's graduation is next weekend and his parents are in town so I wanted to look spiffy and bright.) So I did this:

I used Adore by Creative Image in "Crimson" and I look like Ariel again. It may be a poor choice for my current job hunt but it makes me happy and my 86-year-old grandpa said it looks amazing so I'm a satisfied lady.
