This month's wants are getting me ramped up for summer. I picked up the Almay lip color in Ulta a few weeks ago because I have a $4 off coupon. HOWEVER the product was on sale for less than $4 so I couldn't use the coupon and therefore, didn't get it. I am upset but coping. I will buy this beautiful Apricot Pucker color in the near future. I can feel it!

I also really want a mint colored nail polish for summer. Pair it with silver or gold glitter and that will be the PERFECT summer mani. 

I've had my eye on the ELF lip exfoliator but every time I go to place an ELF order, it's sold out. Boo. ONE DAY I WILL HAVE IT. 

I need a lip brush so that's definitely a want/need because lip colors. 

I'm also really dying to try the NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk because everyone raves about it, which I'm assuming is why it's ALWAYS sold out at my Ulta. 

Last but definitely the most expensive, is Mary Loumanizer by The Balm. I am just dying to try more highlighters and shimmers this summer for a more dewy daily look and I've had my eyes on this one for a while. I should just man up and buy it but I'm s broke, guys. So, so broke. 

The Blunder Years

This week's Saturday FOTD Challenge on /r/makeupaddicts is "The Blunder Years." Everyone has been asked to recreate their middle school/high school makeup looks. I had to participate.

I decided to go with my classic goth girl look, which is really nothing more than poorly blended concealer, black glitter eye shadow, and black eyeliner. No mascara. No blending. No eye brow filling in. Nothing.
 

 

So sexy. Got my MySpace Angles.

I did not have anyone to really teach me how to makeup. I just had to figure it out on my own and man did that end in some high quality disasters involving blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick circa 2002. But my real faux pas was in high school 9-10th grade. Ah yes. The punk phase. I got asked if I wanted to be like Avril Lavigne like... 8 billion times in those years.

To achieve this look, forget what a brush is. Sponge applicator that bitch. Do not worry if you get eye shadow everywhere. You are too punk to care. Do not care if you miss your eyelid a little-- you are still to punk to care. Good makeup is for the preps. Then use a GIGANTIC eyeliner pencil like the Maybelline Cool Effects pencils that are extra discontinued (thank god.) I used a Starlooks pencil in Obsidian for this look since my signature jumbo pencils are now discontinued. Don't wear mascara because it makes you look weird (?) and only use a little concealer to hide the bags under your eyes from getting up at 6am everyday. Don't blow dry or style your hair. Barely brush it. You look good, kid.

I should also note that I wore my face like this for a good 2-3 years. Years of my life!!! I also managed to get several boyfriends wearing makeup like this so, ladies, if you're desperate, put some black shit on your face and werk it.*

*Only works if you're fifteen and it's 2005. 

April 2014 Ipsy Bag

Living true to my motto: Better late than never right? Totally.

Anyway,

I'm LOVING my Ipsy Glam Bag this month. Actually, I always love it, but this month was pretty great.

Here's what I got:

First impressions are the most important so here's what I got. 

I'm already an Urban Decay lover so I'm totally happy to have another black pencil. My current pencil in Zero is literally an inch long so this is a welcome addition to my makeup collection. 

I like the Cailyn lip balm color a lot. It's a coral that I can work with and I'm really stoked to wear it with some olive green eye shadow for some reason. 

The perfume oil is a no go. It smells like my grandma's gardenia bush and kind of makes me die inside. I am not a floral person. I will at least attempt to wear it once then probably find a friend who wants it (or give it away here... ahem.)

Haven't tried the microdermabrasion but I'm hoping it's not too rough. 

The eye shadow is on point. Not a glitter bomb but a nice shimmer and in a color that I will use the shit out of. I will totally buy this when I run out. Way to go, Ipsy.

Another month of awesomeness. My $10 was well spent and I got way more than my money's worth.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick [Review]

Hello there! Been a while, right? I figured I'd come back with a product review so here we go.

I received my very first Rimmel lipstick from my Influenster VoxBox recently and I was STOKED to get it. I've been on such a lipstick kick lately (seriously, my lippy collection has pretty much doubled in three months) so I was happy to receive a complimentary lipstick to review so here we go.

I received the newly formulated Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in "As You Wish Victoria" in my VoxBox and, man, is it a fun color. It's bright and perfect for Winter, when you need that pop of color, and Spring, when it's all about a pretty pink lip. It is highly pigmented and I find that one coat is seriously PLENTY. No need to layer it at all. I feel like another layer would just make it messy. I do recommend a clear lip liner with this lipstick though to prevent feathering, just as I recommend for most bright lipsticks.


What I like about this lipstick is that it's not drying. I can wear it forever and not feel like my lips are going to fall off, which is wonderful. However, because it doesn't dry out your lips, I find that the lipstick itself doesn't dry. It's like wearing a lip gloss that is HIGHLY pigmented so I find myself checking my lipstick in the mirror more often. I'll call it more of a high maintenance lip stick, which is fine if you're able to check it periodically.

The biggest negative about this product is the smell. It smells like powder fresh deodorant (aka baby powder) and the scent doesn't really dissipate. I find it a little annoying because I don't like to smell like a baby's ass.

Other than the smell, it's a dream to wear and the color is amaze. (I've actually bought another Rimmel Lipstick since I received this one, but it was a Kate Moss lipstick and I'm going to review it separately.)

March Wants

Is it weird that I had a really hard time coming up with a list of wants for this month? I bought a CRAP TON of stuff in February (post coming soon, I promise!) so my wishlist has downsized a lot. The only things I really need right now are a new angle brush (mine fell apart during routine washing) and some translucent setting powder (NYC is my favorite and it's like $3!).

I added the Kate Moss lipstick because a ALMOST bought this exact shade last month but my Ulta coupon wasn't good yet so I just put it back. Sadness. 

I'm also really dying to try ELF BB cream for some reason. I don't know where the urge came from but the urge is there, people. It's there. 

I could also use a good everyday brush cleaner so I'm accepting recommendations (and donations...)
