Poster Child Wet N Wild Palette- Review and Swatches

One of my favorite brands of eye shadow of all time for some reason is Wet N Wild. And if you for some reason have not tried one of their palettes yet, You should. Don't be fooled by the price, because you will be surprised at the amazing pigmentation and staying power of these shadows. Really, they are amazing.
I purchased this palette in the fall before homecoming because I wanted to do the forbidden thing of letting my eye shadow match the color of my dress. So I searched high and wide, and found that the crease shade of pink in this set was the closest.I paid a whopping $4.99 for the set and was so please to see how the eye shadows turned out.
I will admit I don't wear these colors every day because of how bright they are, but if you have a special outfit or costume to wear, this is the palette for you!
(Sorry, I'm to pale for you to see the first pink shade)

The picture on the left is from homecoming and I used the lid shade on my lid and the crease shade in my crease and I was very happy how this turned out. On the right is me dressed up as a pink lady and I used the same idea as the homecoming makeup but brought it out further and also added the brow bone shade on the brow bone and the inner corner.I also used the blue crease shade along with the bright green from the I Dream of Greenie palette to create a school spirit look for my homecoming football game.
You can seriously create all kinds of looks with this and considering you get 8 shadows for 5 bucks, that's pretty amazing if you ask me.

The Little (Effing) Mermaid

All right. Let's talk for a minute about how obsessed I am with The Little Mermaid. I have lived, breathed, and cried Ariel since I could speak. I have worn Little Mermaid clothing from scrunchie to shoe and my only character sheets when I was little were Ariel (and you're damn right I had two sets... and the comforter may still be on my bed right now... a bed that I share with my boyfriend).

Now let's talk about The Ariel Palette from Sephora. Let's just talk about it for a second.

And now let's talk about how I don't have it.

And how it's permanently out of stock.

Let's have a moment of silence for my soul, all right, my eye shadow and mermaid obsessed soul. Let's have a moment of silence for all the swatches I'll never get to do, the colors I'll never get to paint my eyes with. Woe is me. A moment of silence as I mourn my first world Little Mermaid problems.

Suck it, Sephora and you're stupid limited editions. Suck. It.

Physicians Formula Baked Collection Wet/Dry Eyeshadow

I found this awesome eye shadow set by Physicians Formula at Ross one afternoon on my lunch break and just couldn't resist. It was $2.99! Holy crap guys!

Then I got home, and was like... great... more eye shadow.

These colors are really shimmery and pretty and go on very sheer unless you wet them (which is a lot of effort for everyday wear, which these colors seem to be to me) and I'm not a huge fan of the colors on my eyes (except the gorgeous chocolate brown for the crease).

However, they make the best highlighters. I love using the really pale pink as a highlight just above my blush. It give a nice subtle shimmer to the tops of my cheekbones that is really pleasant and the white is nice for highlighting elsewhere whenever I actually have the time to go crazy with highlighting an contouring (which is rare but fun). Note: the chocolate brown has shimmer too and therefore is not great for contouring. I WISH.

I use the pink almost everyday now so overall the little set was definitely worth my money and I'd probably buy it again if I found it on sale somewhere when I run out of this set if not just for that pink color!

Ulta Haul

Sorry I've been away from the blog for a while. I've still been hauling in the makeup and putting it on my face daily but life's been a bit crazy.

But I just had to come back to share my awesome Ulta haul I got last weekend. (Of course it takes me a week to blog about it, right?)

I know, I know. There is a divide between the Ulta shoppers and the Sephora shoppers. I love both but I like Ulta better because I'm broke and they sell both drugstore and more high end makeup. I'm also trying to go platinum this year so I've been buying literally everything there. Shampoo, razors, everything. It just sucks because since I moved to Richmond, I have to drive all the way to Short Pump to get my Ulta fix, which is a whole lot further than when I was in Fredericksburg and worked beside an Ulta (sigh...)

In other news. The haul.

What I came in for:

My Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer.
Even though now I really want to try a BB Cream (so recommendations, please).

Other things I ended up with:

Left: L'Oreal High Intensity Pigments Studio Secrets Professions in Striking  Center: L'Oreal High Intensity Pigments Studio Secrets Professions in Gunmetal Right: Swatches (Striking on top, Gunmetal bottom two)

When you see L'Oreal's High Intensity Pigments for $2.19, you don't think, you buy. I have never been so excited in my makeup buying life. These were my shit in high school and early college. I mean, I did not leave my dorm without a full face of incredibly vibrant makeup. Then I grew up a little and had to start wearing neutrals. NOT ANYMORE. I am obsessed with the yellow color in Striking. It is simply gorgeous. I could wear it every single day. I bought gunmetal because it was a steal and I've been looking for the perfect olive green with shimmer since my trusty (and very very old) Revlon palette with some of my favorite colors died.

I also bought this sweet 99 cent angled eyeliner brush from Essence.
I got some sweet black gel liner in my Ipsy bag last month and hated the brush it came with.
Decided paying a dollar was a fair trade.

So have any of you found any good steals from Ulta (or anywhere else) lately? Ours had such a huge clearance section this time I just couldn't resist. (Oh, and I only spent about $17!)

Dollar Store Score

I quit smoking about a week ago and on Thursday (day 3, aka the day the nicotine is entirely out of your system) I treated myself to a little makeup because quitting is really hard and I deserved it.

The makeup find was kind of a spur of the moment buy though because I stumbled upon this beautiful gem at the Dollar Tree where I had gone to pick up some tape and a pack of gum.

First of all, I always check the Dollar Tree's makeup section. Most of the time it's a bunch of cheap off-brand crap that I'm a little afraid to put near my face but sometimes... sometimes you just strike gold. This was one of those times.

Behold: Rimmel Glam Eyes 102 "Backstage"

I fell in love with this color immediately. I'm always looking for colors that have a little something special about them and I thought this brown was really unique.

I love this color. It's very metallic and has a bit of silver in it, which is just gorgeous. I described it to Pete (my boyfriend) as the color of a dull penny that's been covered in glitter. No one else probably understands that except me but I don't mind.

Here's a swatch of the color. The left side is without primer and the right side is with Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Original (the most expensive item in my makeup kit but well worth it).

This color works really well in the crease of your eyelid and I love combining it with one of my favorite shadows ever: NYX's Pixie Dust. They both incredibly metallic and blend really well together.

How To Fix Broken Eye Shadow

Last week I broke the gold eye shadow in my NYX Love in Florence "Bellini Kiss" palette for the SECOND time by dropping it on the polished concrete floor of my apartment. How I have managed to drop it two separate times is beyond me but each time I just put it back together, wait for it to dry overnight, and in the morning, I have gold eye shadow again.

Pardon the image quality. I might have been drinking while this was going on.
